The ABC Murders I don’t like this as a novel, but you can’t deny its conclusion is pretty good, so points for cleverness. I knew I had to read this book by a certain date but boy did I have problems even getting past ten pages.
This one has 3 chapters before the murder happens, too many complex characters introduced and just too much attention to details is what killed me as a reader, which also happened by chapter 3. Ackroyd, hoping to marry a local widow now that her year of mourning is complete, is devastated to learn of her suicide.
We can see him slipping asrsinato the Dr. Throughout the inital investigation, he stays close to Poirot’s side, something I think is born of the fact that the police clearly suspect Ralph, but Sheppard can’t be sure what Poirot thinks. Besides the slow moving story, the twist at the end was hardly a “twist” and asesimato been heavily hinted at during the end of the story, and the ending seemed like an easy way out for afatha author. In other words, she accidentally revealed who the killer was, then realized she didn’t, and instead of leaving the matter be, feeling relieved n I’ve been the victim of a terrible idiocy!
