I don’t mind this too much. However, it is difficult to attribute a disease to Sade and Masoch, but a symptomatology and signs that they describe. What is “The Law”, really? It makes the book much more subversive in between the lines.
It is unrealistic because a genuine sadist could never tolerate a masochistic victim. I’m not sure why the Deleuze essay is first – i think it’s better to read the novel first and then the essay.
It looks like ole Gilles is having some fun at the expense of the Left. I’ve never read Beyond the Pleasure Principle.
