Want to Read saving…. General Gau’s speech regarding why the colonies have to either surrender, join the Conclave, or die is the highlight of the book.

Books by John Scalzi. So even though I’m midway in Zoe’s TaleI’m having a sad.

But then you start getting into it, and start coming across all the details that drove me in particular crazy as I was reading through it, the times when characters act dumber than they’re supposed to in order to artificially inflate the drama and tension of that moment, crap I just hate seeing in a book because it always feels to me like the author being lazy. The Conclave a group that wants to stop Human’s expansion was aware of the original position of Roanoke, and therefore was waiting to annihilate them.

Out sclazi the third-person chapters, and in came a new focus on John Perry and his point of view. That doesn’t make for a good conflict, especially when the conflict is presented as humanity vs.

Maybe just more stories in the same universe? This frankly turned out to be a blessing. She begins to question why they keep putting out fires but do not address the sczlzi causes. A recent attack by the Union on Conclave forces was restrained from becoming all-out war only by the wisdom of their leader, General Gau, who now can barely keep the alien confederation together.

I still coloy like how neatly Scalzi wraps up his books and The Last Colony was no exception. The whole book is written on idiotic assumptions view spoiler [ e.
